Fanvid: 'Thank You' (Lee/Kara)
Song: 'Thank You', performed live by Chris Cornell (Led Zeppelin cover)
Pairing: Lee/Kara
Summary: "If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you"
Spoilers: All aired episodes, just to be safe.
Vidder's Note: This is a super simple video. I figured I focus too much on the pain and the angst, and it was time for some sticky sweetness. :)

As my hubby just said (and YES I made him watch it with me because he has a huge mancrush on Chris Cornell), "Wow, that's amazing. It's all chokey-upey."

I fell in love with Tori Amos's cover of Thank You back in the nineties, but this version of the song is even more raw. He just has such an amazing and intensely emotional voice.

Which is PERFECT for pilots. It flowed so beautifully and had so much of everything that I love about them. The "little drops of rain, whispers of the pain" part literally gave me goosebumps.

In short: I <3 you. And you kick a lot of ass.

Aw, you made your hubby watch! Hee. Thank you so much for your comment! I knew you'd appreciate the Cornell factor. *G*

I <3 you too!!!

Aw that was lovely Jo. So many of their moments, both good and bad, but mostly good. Sniff.

I really liked all the dialogue snippets you used too! It worked really well with the song.

Simply gorgeous!!! The dialogue worked beautifully and you chose such precious moments. I always admire your editing, the fade in and outs with spliced screens and the colour enhancements rolling vibrantly from the misty black and whites.

I'm happy the dialogue worked for ya. It felt right for this song, especially for the musical interludes.

And the vid quality seemed especially good on this vid, so it's cool that the colours really came through.

Thanks so much for your feedback! It's always appreciated.

I definitely focused on a few of their key episodes, as it just felt right for this song. Thank you for your comment!

Have I mentioned that I love you? Seriously, your vids are always *amazing*, and this one is no exception. It's funny that even your "simple" vids are among the best out there, because of both your song choices and your editing. You just really know how to highlight what makes Kara and Lee and Kara/Lee worth obsessing over. ;)

Keep up the great work; watching one of your vids for the first time is always a treat.

Also, I've been meaning to ask: have you taken a lot of design courses? I admire your choice of fonts and other design elements for vids and for your journal layout, and I just kind of wondered what your background is there (if you don't mind talking about it, of course). I took one design class about a year ago, and now I definitely wish I'd taken more when I had the chance. It's fun stuff, and makes you appreciate things like clean, simple layouts and fonts like nothing else! :)

lol, I love you too! <3

This is such great feedback, so thanks very much. With these two characters/actors, it's so easy to find just those moments that fit perfectly with the lyrics.

As for your question, the answer is nope! Never taken a design course in my life, though last year I was seriously considering taking some film courses because of my interest in editing. Obvioiusly that fell through but I haven't completely given up hope on doing something like that in the future. But I will take it as a compliment that you ask that! I think for me it's just been a matter of practice and training your eye for what works best. I definitely have SO much to learn, though.

Oh, it was meant as a compliment, yeah--the layouts you have for SASA and your own journal are really clean and elegant, which is what I prefer in terms of style myself (don't know if I always pull it off, but I try). :)

I took an intro to (magazine) design class, and it was great. I learned the basics of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator by doing different projects (magazine layouts, newspaper layouts, posters, etc.). You might really enjoy something like that, as well (I think the advanced class even got to work with vids, but I'm not sure). It was great fun, and now that I'm editing books about trees and shrubs all day, I really miss having the opportunity to be creative. I think I'll really start getting back into design (and maybe even vidding, if I can ever get the source footage together) for fun on my time off. It's addictive!

I considered taking a film class too (I majored in English and journalism), but never did. My university seems to only offer film classes with really obscure focuses for analysis, and I wasn't very interested in any of the topics. A more technical class would've been cool, though, and maybe that's what you meant in the first place!

It was beautiful. This video kinda sums of the drama that is Lee and Kara. I love the title also, "Thank You", a nice tribute to our beloved pilots before they say goodbye to us forever. Lovely vid

Ah, *sigh*. How lovely. This is a nice song choice, and your editing is fantastic. I especially like all the clips of dialog! Usually, I don't like dialog in music-vids, but it worked *really* well here. I also love the "kiss montage" from 2:30-2:37. *blush* It fits the music so well! Great vid =)

I'm really glad the dialogue worked for you! Thanks for the feedback. :)

This is beautiful. Makes me so sentimental (I even got a little teary...). I love how you layered the sound throughout-- perfect. This is one of my new favorite vids. Thank you.
